1990-91 Brent Sutter Islanders Game Worn Jersey
Lot #29
This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Brent Sutter during the 1990-91 NHL season. The Islanders 1st round selection in the 1980 NHL entry draft burst onto the scene during the midst of the New York Islanders dynasty of the early 1980’s. After a brief call-up during 1980-81, Brent’s youth and feistiness played a key role in leading the Islanders to their 3rd and 4th consecutive Stanley Cups. His finest playoff performances took place during the 1982-83 Cup run as Brent tallied 10 goals and 21 points in 20 playoff games that year to help secure dynasty status for the New Yorkers.

Brent’s talent was unmistakable and was noticed leaguewide as evidenced by his 1985 All Star game selection. The 1984-85 season saw Brent net 42 goals and 102 points. Brent also represented Team Canada in the Canada Cup games of 1984, 1987 and 1991. Perhaps the greatest tribute bestowed upon this Sutter brother was being named Islanders team Captain, a title that he assumed from longtime team Captain Denis Potvin. Brent held this title through the remainder of his tenure with the club. After 11 years on Long Island Brent moved to the Windy City where he completed his career, spending his final 7 seasons as a member of the Blackhawks.

Sewn proudly to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. The game wear is outstanding as one would expect on one of “Pup’s” shirts. Despite the finest dry cleaning efforts, hundreds of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, snags, pulls and bloodstains reign supreme. There are gobs of inner pilling and by our count an impressive 17 team-sewn repairs. Everything one would order up, with the vaunted Captain’s “C” to boot.
