Description
1990-91 Bob Essensa Winnipeg Jets Game Worn Jersey
Lot #73

This road blue knit gamer by CCM was worn by Bob Essensa during the 1990-91 NHL season. The Winnipeg Jets selected Essensa in the 4th round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. After graduating from Michigan State University in 1987, Essensa joined the Jets organization and suited up for their AHL affiliate in Moncton prior to beginning his NHL career in 1988-89. Essensa stood between the pipes in Winnipeg for 6 seasons prior to joining the Detroit Red Wings late in the 1993-94 season. Bob next suited up for the Edmonton Oilers for a 3-year stint that was followed by single seasons in Phoenix, Vancouver and Buffalo. Since retiring, Essensa has worked for the Boston Bruins as the goalie coach for the past 8 years.

Sewn to the left shoulder of this gamer is the Goals For Kids patch. The game wear on this vintage sweater is solid and consists of stick and puck marks, goal post and crossbar paint transfer, pulls and heavy pilling inside and around the collar from Bob’s goalie mask. A personalized autograph resides on the front crest in Essensa’s own hand. A nice offering that we first introduced as fresh to the hobby, straight out of Winnipeg, in our Spring 2015 Auction.
