1989 Gary Suter NHL All Star Game Worn Jersey - "40th NHL AS"
Lot #101

This white air-knit Campbell Conference All Star jersey was worn by Gary Suter during the 1989 NHL All Star game. Suter, a Madison Wisconsin native, spent 2 years at the University of Wisconsisn before joining the Calgary Flames in 1985-86. He emerged onto the scene with a bang and won the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year as his team made their first ever trip to the Stanley Cup Finals. Gary remained with the Flames for 9 years and won a Stanley Cup in 1989. A deal sent him to Chicago in 1993-94. Suter spent parts of 5 seasons with the Blackhawks before joining the Sharks where he finished his career several seasons later. All told he played 17 NHL seasons during which time he earned a 2nd Team NHL All Star berth on defence as well as 4 trips to the NHL All Star game. American born, Gary represented Team USA in the World Cup of Hockey, 2 Canada Cups and 2 Olympic games.

This lightly worn sweater was donned by Suter in the 1989 All Star game during his only Stanley Cup winning season. Sewn to the right shoulder of this jersey is the 40th NHL All Star game patch. The most obvious signs of use are the salt deposits that reside in the snaps of the fight strap. Also worthy of mention is some light staining on the front of this sweater.
