1989-91 Brian Chapman/Mark Laforge Whalers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #85

This road green air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Mark Laforge in 1989-90 and then again by Brian Chapman during the 1990-91 NHL pre season.

Chapman recently completed a 20-year playing career in hockey which spanned the OHL, AHL and IHL. During this time he played a total of 3 regular season NHL games. These were played as a member of the Hartford Whalers in 1990-91. This is his road jersey worn during the 1990-91 NHL pre season.

Mark Laforge completed a 17-year playing career in hockey in 2000-01 which spanned the OHL, IHL, AHL, CHL and WCHL. During that time he partook in 9 regular season NHL games with the Hartford Whalers in 1989-90 and another 5 with the Edmonton Oilers in 1993-94. This is Mark’s road jersey from the 1989-90 NHL regular season.

Interestingly enough, both Chapman and Laforge were noted pugilists, running rough shot through the minor leagues from the mid 1980’s thru the 2000’s. This game sweater shows fantastic signs of fight abuse beginning with all of the stitch pops to the neck, which occurred from it being tugged at during on ice fights. Next we go to the back of the collar which has been torn apart and solidly reinforced with heavy repairwork all the way down to the lettering of the name on back. Bloodstains exist on both sleeves and the front hem. In addition there are stick marks, board burns and inner pilling. This is a dream find for the niche goon collector who receives the benefit of a 2 for 1, in defunct team colors no less.
