1989-90 Stewart Gavin Minnesota North Stars Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match
Lot #433
This road green air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Stew Gavin during the 1989-90 NHL season. The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Gavin in the 4th round of the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. Gavin made his NHL debut with the Leafs in 1980-81 and spent 5 seasons with the club before joining the Hartford Whalers for 3 years of service beginning in 1985-86. Gavin’s last NHL stop was with the Minnesota North Stars, where he remained for 5 seasons until the franchise relocated to Dallas following the 1992-93 campaign. Gavin took part in the team’s run to the Cup Finals in 1991, playing in 21 post season games that memorable year.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, washed out bloodstains, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust, inner pilling and a couple of team-sewn repairs. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Gavin wearing this exact jersey during the 1989-90 season. A rare offering as Gavin likely only wore the “C” for the handful of games that regular Captain Curt Giles missed due to injury that year. A well-worn example, complete with the coveted letter of honor that would make for a terrific addition to any North Stars collection of jerseys.
