This road red knit gamer by CCM and Eastside was worn by Steve Chiasson during the 1989-90 NHL season. The Detroit Red Wings selected Chiasson in the 3rd round of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. This Barrie, Ontario native made his NHL debut with the Red Wings in 1986-87. Steve called Detroit home for the first 8 years of his 13-year NHL career. After leaving the Wings, Steve went on to play for Calgary, Hartford and finally Carolina, where on the night he was eliminated from the playoffs in his 2nd season with the club, he was tragically killed in an automobile accident on his way home from a team party. Chiasson played in 751 games and scored an impressive 398 points while amassing 1107 PIMS and earning an appearance in the NHL All Star game.
The game wear on this sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust and inner pilling. On the back player number is a beautiful black sharpie signature in Chiasson’s own hand. A wonderful example donned by this now deceased All Star defenseman, complete with a perfect autograph.
