1989-90 Richard Zemlak Pittsburgh Penguins Game Worn Jersey – “41st NHL All Star”
Lot #705

GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET is pleased to bring this exciting collection of game worn enforcers and tough guys to the hobby exclusively thru our Fall 2017 Auction. These 14 NHL and minor league game worn jerseys have been held in a private collection since being purchased beginning nearly 20 years ago and have been out of hobby circulation ever since. Included in this group of legendary tough guys are some extremely difficult to find players and styles, some which are being offered at auction for the first time!

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Richard Zemlak during the 1989-90 NHL season. The St. Louis Blues selected Zemlak in the 10th round of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. This enforcer enjoyed an 11-year professional career that included 5 seasons in the NHL. Zemlak made his NHL debut with the Quebec Nordiques in 1986-87 and also represented the Minnesota North Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins and Calgary Flames. This brawler loved to drop the gloves and he’s a favorite amongst fight tape enthusiasts. In 54 games played for the North Stars in 1987-88 this enforcer amassed 307 PIMS! He ended his NHL career with 587 PIMS in 132 games played.

Sewn to the left shoulder of this gamer is the 41st NHL All Star Game patch. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, inner pilling, and team-sewn repair work with fight abuse that includes washed out bloodstains, a torn and repaired front collar and a well-used customized fight strap. Also of importance to the Penguins collectors is the gold toe, a short-lived anamoly in Pittsburgh Penguins jersey lure. A terrific looking enforcers gamer complete with the gold toe’d Penguin and the NHL All Star Game patch.
