This fresh to the hobby example comes directly from the personal collection of longtime New York Islanders employee Terrence Murphy. Terry worked for the New York Islanders from 1983 through 1992, beginning as their stick boy until being promoted to Assistant Equipment Manager in 1988. A letter of provenance signed by Mr. Murphy’s son will accompany your purchase. These exciting items are being offered to the hobby for the first time via the Fall 2020 Auction, exclusively at GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET.

This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Pat Flatley during the 1989-90 NHL season. The New York Islanders selected Flatley in the 1st round of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his college hockey at the University of Wisconsin, Flatley made his NHL debut in 1983-84 with the Islanders. Later that spring, Pat made his only trip to the Stanley Cup Finals as the Islanders fell just shy in their “Drive For Five”. During that season’s exciting playoff run, this rookie put up 9 goals and 15 points in the Islanders 21 playoff games. Flatley spent the first 13 years of a 14-year NHL career on Long Island before spending a final season with the cross-town rival New York Rangers prior to retiring in 1997. Flatley, the 5th Captain in franchise history was enshrined into the Islanders Hall of Fame in 2012.

The game wear on this 3rd set size 54 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer from the Nassau Coliseum, un-repaired burn holes and trauma and inner pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Flatley wearing this exact jersey during Game 3 of the 1989-90 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the New York Rangers, a double overtime thriller won by the Islanders. Flatley appeared in 62 games and scored 49 points while adding 101 PIMS while wearing this sweater on home ice during the 1989-90 season. A nice fresh to the hobby photo matched example of this Islanders Hall of Famer that comes directly from the personal collection of Terrence Murphy.
