1989-90 Mike Golden & Paul Broten Flint Spirits Game Worn Jersey
Lot #263

This road blue mesh gamer by CCM and Cosby was worn by Paul Broten and Mike Golden during the 1989-90 IHL season. The New York Rangers selected Broten in the 4th round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his college hockey at the University of Minnesota, this Rousseau, MN native and brother of Neal and Aaron, made his NHL debut in 1989-90 with the Rangers where he played for four seasons. Broten went on to also play for the Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues before his NHL playing days were done.

The Edmonton Oilers selected Golden in the 2nd round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. This Boston native played his college hockey at the Universities of New Hampshire and Maine before making his professional debut in 1988-89 with the Denver Rangers. Golden had a three-year career that also saw him play for Flint, Albany, Binghamton and Milwaukee.

The game wear on this size 50 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. A hand-stitched nameplate is found on the upper verso, sitting atop another plate, as Golden presumably assumed Broten’s player number after Paul was called up to the NHL by the New York Rangers as a rookie.
