Description
1989-90 Ed Olczyk Toronto Maple Leafs Game Worn Jersey
Lot #81

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Ed Olczyk during the 1989-90 NHL season. The Chicago Blackhawks selected Olczyk with the 3rd overall pick in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. This Chicago, IL native spent 3 years with the Hawks before a deal sent him to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1987. Ed spent parts of 4 seasons with the Leafs and then played for the Winnipeg Jets for parts of 5 more in two stints and also spent several years with the New York Rangers where he won a Stanley Cup in 1994. Olczyk wrapped up his career playing with the LA Kings, the Pittsburgh Penguins and lastly spent a couple of years where it all began in Chicago with the Hawks. On the international stage, Olczyk represented Team USA in the World Championships, 2 Canada Cups and the Olympics. Eddie netted 30 or more in four different seasons with a career best 42-goal season coming in 1987-88 with the Leafs.

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust, fine inner pilling and half a dozen team-sewn repairs. A beautiful black sharpie signature has been penned in Olczyk’s own hand on the back player number. Olczyk lit the lamp 32 times and added 56 assists for 88 points in 79 games while wearing this gamer at Maple Leaf Gardens in front of the hometown fans.
