Description
1989-90 Doug Smith Pittsburgh Penguins Game Worn Jersey – “41st NHL All Star”
Lot #50

This road black knit gamer by CCM was worn by Doug Smith during the 1989-90 NHL season. The Los Angeles Kings selected Smith with the 2nd overall pick in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. This Ottawa native made his NHL debut in 1981-82 with the Kings where he skated for parts of five seasons. Smith went on to represent the Buffalo Sabres, Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and the Pittsburgh Penguins before completing his 9-year NHL career.

Sewn to the left shoulder of this gamer is the Civic Arena, Pittsburgh 41st NHL All Star Game patch. The game wear on this sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, inner pilling and a little team-sewn repair work where a nameplate change took place. Dave Capuano also wore the player number 15 during the 1989-90 season. A nice All Star patched example that marked the end of Smith’s 9-year NHL career.
