Description
1989-90 Dennis Vial IHL Flint Spirits Game Worn Jersey - 351 PIM Season - Head Medical Trainer Letter
Lot #197

This home white heavy mesh gamer by CCM and Cosby was worn by Dennis Vial during the 1989-90 IHL season. Vial was drafted by the New York Rangers in the 1988 NHL entry draft and soon after joined their IHL affiliate at the time, the Flint Spirits for what would prove to be a wild season. In 79 games, Dennis scored 39 points despite racking up an unthinkable 351 PIMS! He would get his first call up to the Rangers the following year and played a brief time with them before they dealt him to the Red Wings. Dennis spent parts of 3 seasons in Detroit causing havoc alongside Probert and the boys. His next NHL stop was in Ottawa where he found a home for 5 seasons. The 1995-96 NHL season saw Dennis compile a career best 276 PIMS with the Senators.

This heavy mesh gamer has been thru the wars! Having just been drafted, Dennis was doing all he could to show his parent club that he deserved a spot on their roster. This jersey has the battle scars to prove it. There are numerous stick marks found about the front, back and sleeves of this gamer. Board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and fine inner pilling not to be left out. There is plenty of fight abuse also evident on this sweater from the infamous 351 PIM season. The front of the neckline has been grabbed and tugged upon causing a separation of material as well as a number of stitch pops while traces of washed out bloodstains also remain evident. Significant team-sewn repair work can be found alongside the left hand sleeve number, potentially occurring at the hands of an opponent doing his best to hang on despite the haymakers he was likely incurring. All you could ask for in terms of character on a pugilists pre-NHL game worn jersey. This jersey will be accompanied by a letter from the head medical trainer of the Spirits during the 1989-90 season.
