This fresh to the hobby example comes directly from the personal collection of longtime New York Islanders employee Terrence Murphy. Terry worked for the New York Islanders from 1983 through 1992, beginning as their stick boy until being promoted to Assistant Equipment Manager in 1988. A letter of provenance signed by Mr. Murphy’s son will accompany your purchase. These exciting items are being offered to the hobby for the first time via the Fall 2020 Auction, exclusively at GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET.

This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by David Volek during the 1989-90 NHL season, his sophomore year. The New York Islanders selected Volek in the 10th round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. This Czech native made his NHL debut in 1988-89 with the Islanders where he played for his entire 6-year NHL career. Volek is famously remembered for scoring the most important Islanders goal of the past three decades when he netted the overtime winner against the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 7 of the 1993 playoffs.

The game wear on this 3rd set size 54 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer from the Nassau Coliseum, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. Volek netted 17 goals and added 22 assists for 39 points and emerged as a member of the Isles top line by the time the playoffs rolled around. A nice fresh to the hobby example that was worn by Volek during his sophomore season and comes directly from the personal collection of Terrence Murphy.
