1988-90 Andy Moog Boston Bruins Game Worn Mask - Photo Match
Lot #387
This black and gold colored, hand painted goalie mask by Promask was worn by Andy Moog during the 1988-90 NHL seasons. The Edmonton Oilers selected Moog in the 7th round of the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. Moog made his NHL debut with Edmonton in 1980-81 and remained part of the dynasty club for 7 seasons during which time he won 3 Stanley Cups. He was traded to the Boston Bruins prior to the start of the 1987-88 season and went on to backstop his new club to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2 of the next 3 years, losing both times to his former teammates. Moog spent 6 years with the Bruisn before becoming a member of the Dallas Stars during their first season. Andy spent 4 seasons between the pipes in Dallas and wrapped up his 18-year NHL career with a final year in Montreal. When all was said and done, Moog had amassed 372 Wins and made 6 trips to the Stanley Cup Finals, winning 3 rings. Moog was a 4-time NHL All Star, led the NHL in shutouts in 3 different seasons and was the recipient of the 1989-90 William M. Jennings Trophy.

This beautiful hand painted creation by Promask is original in all respects. The Promask label is found affixed to the inside. Also completely intact are all of the inner padding as well as the straps, chin guard and hand painted back plate. A well-worn custom sweatband is attached inside just where Andy’s forehead would lie. Solid game use exists throughout this stunning game used mask. This mask is a recent addition to the hobby after having been sourced this past year from a West Coast Sports Museum whose owner acquired game worn gems directly from the players and teams over the course of its long history. Moog has penned a beautiful black sharpie signature on one side of the painted Bruins logo and added the years that he wore this mask, “88-90” on the other. It was during this exact era that Moog backstopped the Boston Bruins to 2 Stanley Cup Finals over a 3-year span dating 1988-90. Shown above are a couple of beautiful photos that show Moog wearing this exact mask circa the 1988-90 seasons. A simply outstanding offering, worn by Moog during the height of his prowess as he and his Bruins marched to a pair of Stanley Cup Finals, choice!
