1988-89 Sergei Starikov UCKA/Central Red Army Game Worn Jersey
Lot #211
This red air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Sergei Starikov during the 1988-89 season while skating for the Central Red Army. Starikov starred for the Soviet Union dating back to the 1970's. During the early part of his career he was part of the 1980 Soviet Union Olympic Team that will forever be remembered as having lost to Team USA in the Miracle On Ice game. Sergei played in all three 1979 Challenge Cup games on Madison Square Garden Ice as the Russians regained world on-ice supremacy by defeating the NHL All Stars. Sergei was a 3-time Olympian, played in five Super Series, Rendesvous '87, numerous World Championships and the 1984 Canada Cup. Starikov did spend one season at the end of his playing career with the New Jersey Devils in 1989-90. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops and areas of heavy pilling.
