Description
1988-89 Randy McKay Detroit Red Wings Game Worn Jersey – Rookie
Lot #63

This home white knit gamer by CCM and Eastside was worn by Randy McKay during the 1988-89 NHL season, his rookie year. The Detroit Red Wings selected McKay in the 6th round of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his college hockey at Michigan Tech University and graduating in 1988, McKay made his NHL debut with the Red Wings in 1988-89. After 3 seasons with the Wings, McKay joined the New Jersey Devils in 1991-92. McKay spent 11 seasons in New Jersey, winning the Stanley Cup in 1995 and 2000. He finished up his career with a short stint in Dallas and a final season with the Montreal Canadiens. McKay played the role of enforcer with the Devils and ended his career with 1731 PIMS in 932 regular season games. This tough guy strung together 3 consecutive 200+ PIMS seasons immediately after arriving in New Jersey.

McKay played an abbreviated schedule of games as a rookie in 1988-89. The game wear on this sweater is light as would be expected with some notable inner pilling and a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust most worthy of mention.
