Description
1988-89 Randy Hillier Pittsburgh Penguins Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match
Lot #97

This road black knit gamer by CCM and Century Sports was worn by Randy Hillier during the 1988-89 NHL season. The Boston Bruins selected Hillier in the 5th round of the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. Hillier made his NHL debut with the Bruins in 1981-82 and he remained with the team that drafted him for 3 seasons before joining the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1984-85. Hillier next spent 7 seasons with the Penguins and in his last year with the club celebrated their first-ever Stanley Cup. Randy finished his NHL career a year later with the Islanders and Sabres. In 543 games played this tough guy rang up 906 PIMS.

The game wear on this 1st set sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Hillier wearing this exact jersey during the 1988-89 season. The 1988-89 season saw Hillier score a career best 24 points while amassing 141 PIMS in 68 games. Randy added another 49 PIMS in 9 playoff games later that spring. A well-worn photo matched offering that shared the ice with Mario during his historic season.
