1988-89 Link Gaetz Minnesota North Stars Game Worn Jersey – Rookie – Photo Match
Lot #10
This home white air-knit gamer by CCM and Team Choice was worn by Link Gaetz during the 1988-89 NHL season, his rookie year. The Minnesota North Stars selected Gaetz in the 2nd round of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. This Vancouver native made his NHL debut in 1988-89 with the North Stars. Gaetz played in a total of three NHL seasons, the first two with the North Stars and the last with the expansion San Jose Sharks. The Missing Link is considered one of the meanest men to ever lace up a pair of skates. In an NHL career that was marred by controversy, Gaetz partook in a mere 65 games and racked up 412 PIMS! His final season was with the expansion San Jose Sharks in 1991-92 where he played in 48 contests and amassed a remarkable 326 PIMS!

The game wear on this sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, material pulls, washed out bloodstains, a torn stitch-popped front collar and inner pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Gaetz wearing this exact jersey during the 1988-89 season. Tremendous desirability and his brief 65 game NHL career have made finding a game worn jersey of The Missing Link a near impossible task over the past three decades. Gaetz played in a total of 12 NHL games as a rookie, wearing this sweater on home ice at the Met in Minnesota. A beautiful photo matched example from The Missing Link’s rookie season.
