1988-89 Kerry Clark Springfield Indians Game Worn Jersey – Rookie
Lot #709

GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET is pleased to bring this exciting collection of game worn enforcers and tough guys to the hobby exclusively thru our Fall 2017 Auction. These 14 NHL and minor league game worn jerseys have been held in a private collection since being purchased beginning nearly 20 years ago and have been out of hobby circulation ever since. Included in this group of legendary tough guys are some extremely difficult to find players and styles, some which are being offered at auction for the first time!

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Kerry Clark during the 1988-89 AHL season, his rookie year. The New York Islanders selected Clark in the 10th round of the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. Kerry is the younger brother of NHL legend, Wendel Clark. This enforcer never made it to the NHL but he certainly made his presence felt in the minors! His single season best penalty minutes total came in 1990-91 with Salt Lake as he registered 372 PIMS in 62 games played. Over the course of a decade that was spent both in the AHL and IHL, Clark rang up 2812 PIMS in a mere 619 games played and was looked upon as one of minor league hockey’s most feared pugilists.

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, washed out bloodstains, heavy inner pilling and some terrific team-sewn repair work. Also worthy of mention is evidence of a nameplate change. Although hardly a goal scorer, Kerry became well known for his Moonwalk celebration after scoring a goal, something he adopted as a rookie with Springfield in 1988-89. Shown above are some rare video highlights and screen images of Clark wearing his white Springfield rookie sweater while performing his patented Moonwalk celebration! Kerry’s jerseys have historically been extremely difficult for collectors to put their hands upon. Though still referred to as Wendel’s little brother, his legendary fights and 2812 PIMS stand on their own and will make this well-worn example a tremendous addition to any serious collection of tough guys and enforcers.
