Description
1988-89 Gary Roberts Calgary Flames Game Worn Jersey - Stanley Cup Season
Lot #92

This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Gary Roberts during the 1988-89 Stanley Cup winning season. The Calgary Flames selected Roberts in the 1st round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. This Ontario born winger made his NHL debut with the Flames in 1986-87. He would call Calgary home for the first 10 years of his 21-year NHL career. Roberts won his first and only Stanley Cup with Calgary in 1989. Gary’s final 11 seasons were spent with Carolina, Toronto, Florida, Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay. This tough forward was a member of the 50-goal club and in 1224 games played he netted 438 goals and 909 points. A string of 5-consecutive 200+ PIMS seasons in Calgary helped Gary amass 2560 career PIMS, placing him top-20 all-time! Roberts was a 3-time NHL All Star and a winner of the 1995-96 Bill Masterton Trophy.

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, washed out bloodstains and fine inner pilling. Roberts wore this example during his 3rd NHL season; as he and the Flames went on to capture their first and only Stanley Cup Championship. Roberts joined the 20-goal club for the first time and totaled 250 PIMS in 71 games played during this Championship season. A terrific early career example worn by this 3-time NHL All Star during a Stanley Cup winning season.
