1988-89 Dave Gagner Minnesota North Stars Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match
Lot #56

This home white air-knit gamer by CCM and Team Choice was worn by Dave Gagner during the 1988-89 NHL season. The New York Rangers selected Gagner in the 1st round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. Gagner made his NHL debut in 1984-85 with the Rangers, where he played for 3 seasons before joining the Minnesota North Stars in 1987-88. Gagner remained with the Minnesota/Dallas franchise for 9 seasons and then finished his 15-year NHL career with the Leafs, Flames, Panthers and Canucks. Gagner netted back-to-back 40-Goal seasons with the North Stars in 1989-90 and 1990-91, a year that saw Minnesota reach the Stanley Cup Finals. This All Star forward was 6-times a 30-goal scorer who netted 318 career goals, 719 points and 1018 PIMS during his career.

The sleeves on this jersey have been custom shortened for Gagner by the team. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer from the old Met, un-repaired burn holes and trauma, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust, heavy inner pilling and more than a half-dozen team-sewn repairs! Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Gagner wearing this exact jersey during the 1988-89 season. A well-worn long defunct photo matched example, hailing from a season that saw Gagner score 35 goals, 78 points and chip in 104 PIMS.
