This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Darren Pang during the 1986 IHL season. Every hockey fan is familiar with Panger, who for most of our recent memory has been providing excellent color commentary on TV stations across the US and Canada. Not as many are familiar with Darren’s playing career. Despite standing only 5’ 5” in height, Pang stood between the pipes for parts of 3 seasons for the Chicago Blackhawks during the mid-late 1980’s. Pang also spent time guarding the nets in the OHL, the IHL and the AHL. To his credit are the following accolades: OHL 1st Team All Star 1984, Memorial Cup All Star Team 1984, Hap Emms Memorial Trophy 1984, IHL 2nd Team All Star 1987, NHL All-Rookie Team 1988.
Unique customizations adorn this goalie gamer. There are 6-inch wide cloth like panels that were sewn into both sides of the body beginning at the tip of the wrists and stretching all the way to the bottom of the hem. The game wear on this vintage IHL gamer consists of stick and puck marks, pulls and some fantastic pilling. Also worthy of mention is a well-salted fight strap and a nameplate change. A sweet gamer from the end of Pang’s all too short career.
