Description
1988-89 Chris Joseph Edmonton Oilers Game Worn Jersey - "10-year" - Photo Match - Team Letter
Lot #79

This home white mesh gamer by Nike was worn by Chris Joseph during the 1988-89 NHL season, his 2nd year in the league. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Joseph with the 5th overall selection in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. During his first season in the league, the Pens dealt Joseph to the Edmonton Oilers where he would remain for the next 7 seasons. All told Joseph spent 14 years in the league before heading to Europe where he played for 5 seasons before retiring.

Sewn to the right shoulder of this gamer is the Edmonton Oilers 10-year anniversary patch. Sewn to the rear hem is a 6-inch long rectangular swatch of Nike mesh to replace the original part of the hem that the team removed which housed the Nike logo. Penned in the collar in blue sharpie is the team’s designation 1988/1989. The game wear on this sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and a couple of team-sewn repairs. Shown above is a beautiful photo-match of Joseph wearing this exact sweater during the 1988-89 season. A fine looking photo matched example worn in the midst of the mighty Oilers dynasty and housing the team’s desirable 10-year anniversary patch. This jersey will be accompanied by an Oilers team letter.
