Description
1988-89 Bob Froese New York Rangers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #352
This road blue heavy mesh gamer by CCM and Cosby was worn by Bob Froese during the 1988-89 NHL season. The St. Louis Blues selected Froese in the 10th round of the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. After a handful of seasons in the IHL and AHL, Froese began his NHL career with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1982-83, when he was a call-up. He would battle Pelle Lindbergh for playing time over the next few seasons and actually played in 48 games in his first full season in Philadelphia in 1983-84. He remained between the pipes in the City of Brotherly Love for parts of 5 seasons, during which time he won the William Jennings Trophy in 1985-86. That season Bob played in 51 games and put forth an incredible 31 Wins, 3 by way of shutout and a 2.55 GAA. His effort that year earned him a spot in the NHL All Star game and 2nd Team NHL All Star recognition. After winning all 3 of his starts in 1986-87, the Flyers decided to hand the reigns to rookie Ron Hextall and dealt Froese to the Rangers for defenseman Kjell Samuelsson. Froese spent the next 3+ years between the pipes at Madison Square Garden before announcing his retirement.

Sewn into the collar of this vintage gamer is the Cosby and CCM tagging. The game wear on this sweater consists of stick and puck marks, plenty of goal post and crossbar paint transfer, a heavily salted fight strap and pilling. A nice looking example worn by this former Jennings Trophy winner and NHL All Star during the latter part of his career.
