Description
1987-88 Rik Wilson Chicago Blackhawks Game Worn Jersey - Reverse Tomahawks
Lot #402

This road red knit gamer by CCM was worn by Rik Wilson during the 1987-88 NHL season. The St. Louis Blues made Wilson the 12th overall selection in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. This Long Beach California native began his NHL career in 1981-82 with St. Louis where he remained for 5 years. Rik later briefly skated for the Calgary Flames and then completed his NHL career in 1987-88 with the Chicago Blackhawks. Wilson partook in 14 games for the Blackhawks during the 1987-88 season. From his position on the blueline he netted 4 goals and 9 points in those 14 games.

This jersey comes directly from the recently discovered Gunzo's collection. Offered here is Rik’s road jersey from his final NHL season. The game use on this sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, a fair amount of colorful board paint transfer, washed out bloodstains and fine inner pilling. A nice feature is the original nameplate that features an R. Wilson, helping fans distinguish the 3 Wilson’s on the squad, Doug, Behn and Rik. Best of all are the “Reverse Tomahawks” that reside high atop both shoulders. The 1987-88 season saw the Hawks mistakenly wear home white Tomahawks on both their home white and road red game jerseys. This mistake has made these “error” jerseys highly desirable among Blackhawks and type style collectors alike. Here is a rare opportunity to fill a hole that still exists in many current collections. An exciting new discovery brings this previously unknown gamer to the hobby, good luck in your pursuit.
