1987-88 Richard Zemlak Minnesota North Stars Game Worn Jersey
Lot #345

GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET is pleased to bring this exciting collection of game worn enforcers and tough guys to the hobby exclusively thru our Spring 2018 Auction. These 11 NHL and minor league game worn jerseys have been held in a private collection since being purchased beginning nearly 20 years ago and have been out of hobby circulation ever since. Included in this group of legendary tough guys are some extremely difficult to find players and styles, most which are being offered at auction for the first time!

This road green air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Richard Zemlak during the 1987-88 NHL season. The St. Louis Blues selected Zemlak in the 10th round of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. This enforcer enjoyed an 11-year professional career that included 5 seasons in the NHL. Zemlak made his NHL debut with the Quebec Nordiques in 1986-87 and also represented the Minnesota North Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins and Calgary Flames. This brawler loved to drop the gloves and he’s a favorite amongst fight tape enthusiasts. In 54 games played for the North Stars in 1987-88, this enforcer amassed 307 PIMS! He ended his NHL career with 587 PIMS in 132 games played.

The game wear on this set 2 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, material pulls and fine inner pilling. The fight strap has been customized with a skate lace crudely punched through the traditional strap to provide additional reinforcement. Zemlak had a wild season while wearing this sweater during road contests as he amassed a career best 307 PIMS in just 54 games of action! A nice old North Stars gamer that’s been out of the hobby’s eye for more than a decade.
