1987-88 Keith Acton Minnesota North Stars Game Worn Jersey
Lot #39
This road green air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Keith Acton during the 1987-88 NHL season. The Montreal Canadiens selected Acton in the 6th round of the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. Acton began his career with the Canadiens in 1979-80 and played with the Habs into the 1983-84 campaign, when a deal sent him packing to Minnesota. “Woody” would spend 5 seasons wearing the North Stars green and gold before a deal sent him to Edmonton just in time to capture the 1988 Stanley Cup. During the following season, Acton was again on the move, this time to Philly, where he would spend the next 5 years before final stints in Washington and New York.

Acton was a pesky center iceman, often in charge of shutting down the opposition. However, he was not without offensive skills, having registered 36 goals and 88 points in 1981-82, good for a spot on the 1982 NHL All Star team. In a career that spanned 1023 games, Woody netted 226 goals and racked up 1172 PIMS.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, washed out bloodstains, material pulls and inner pilling. This jersey resided in the personal collection of the Minnesota North Stars equipment manager for nearly 30 years before recently entering our hobby. A nice defunct example that sports fantastic provenance and the coveted letter of honor from Woody’s last season in Minnesota.
