1987-88 Jody Gage Rochester Americans Game Worn Jersey - AHL Most Valuable Player - 60-Goal - 104-Point Season
Lot #229

This road blue knit gamer by CCM was worn by Jody Gage during the 1987-88 AHL season. The Detroit Red Wings selected Gage in the 3rd round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. This Toronto native made his NHL debut with the Red Wings in 1980-81 where he played for parts of 3 seasons. Jody finished up his NHL career after playing 3 seasons with the Buffalo Sabres. Gage is a legendary member of the AHL Hall of Fame after playing in the league for 17 seasons. Jody spent his first 6 AHL seasons with the Adirondack Red Wings. His final 11 years were spent with the Rochester Americans where he continues to hold most of their all-time scoring records, is a member of the club’s Hall of Fame and is known as “Mr. Amerk”. Gage’s AHL career saw him retire as 3rd all-time in goals (504) and points (1048). He is the league’s all-time leader with 51 Calder Cup Playoff goals and Jody also holds the all-time AHL mark with seven 40-goal seasons.

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired holes, heavy inner pilling and several team-sewn repairs. Gage captured the Les Cunningham Award as the league’s MVP in 1987-88 as he became the 2nd player in league history to score 60 goals in a season. Jody lit the lamp 60 times and added 44 assists for 104 points while wearing this sweater during road games. A tremendous well-worn offering, sported by this AHL Hall of Famer during his historic MVP season.
