1987-88 Ed Hospodar Buffalo Sabres Game Worn Jersey Photo Match
Lot #11
This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Ed Hospodar during the 1987-88 NHL season. The New York Rangers selected Hospodar in the 2nd round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. This Bowling Green, OH native made his NHL debut in 1979-80 with the Rangers where he would play for three seasons. An ill-fated decision to pick a fight with the Islanders’ Clark Gillies cost Ed half of the 1981-82 season, sealing his fate with the Rangers. Hospodar was dealt to the Hartford Whalers during the off-season and spent two years with the Whalers before joining the Philadelphia Flyers in 1984-85. Ed next played for the North Stars before returning to Philadelphia and then finishing up his career with the Buffalo Sabres. Hospodar played in a pair of Stanley Cup Finals with the Flyers, serving valiantly in the role of enforcer. Over the course of 9 NHL seasons, “The Boxcar” appeared in 492 combined regular season and playoff games and racked up an impressive 1520 PIMS.

The game wear on this sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, washed out bloodstains and heavy inner pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Hospodar wearing this exact jersey during the 1987-88 season. A beautiful photo matched example from The Boxcar’s last NHL season.
