Description
1987-88 Dave Taylor Kings Game Worn Jersey
Lot #16

This road purple and gold knit gamer by CCM was worn by Dave Taylor during the 1987-88 NHL season. Believe it or not, Taylor was the 210th player selected in the 1975 NHL entry draft, what a deal! He cracked the Kings lineup in 1977-78 and never left, spending his entire 17-year career with the Los Angeles franchise until his retirement following the 1993-94 season. Forming the RW side of the famed Triple Crown line, Taylor prospered alongside Marcel Dionne and Charlie Simmer forming one of hockey’s ‘historic’ lines.

Dave was voted 2nd team NHL All Star in 1981 and played in 4 NHL All Star games. He was the 1991 recipient of both the Bill Masterton Trophy and the King Clancy Memorial Trophy. In a career that spanned 1111 games Taylor put up 431 goals, 1069 points and 1589 PIMS. Dave tabbed three 40+ goal seasons during his career with a single season best coming in 1980-81, when he lit the lamp 47 times to go alongside 65 assists for 112 points. In 1985-86 Taylor assumed the Kings Captaincy and remained in that role until passing the torch to Wayne Gretzky to begin the 1989-90 season.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. The game wear consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fine pilling both inside and out and some team-sewn repair work. On the back hem is a beautiful black sharpie signature in Taylor’s own hand. Worn during the final season of the purple and gold colors, marking the end of an era in Los Angeles.
