1987-88 Dave Barr Detroit Red Wings Game Worn Jersey
Lot #73

This home white knit gamer by CCM and Eastside was worn by Dave Barr during the 1987-88 NHL season. Barr made his NHL debut in 1981-82 with the Boston Bruins where he played for two seasons. This RW next skated briefly for the NY Rangers before joining the St. Louis Blues for a four-year stretch. After spending a partial season with the Hartford Whalers, Barr began a five-year stint with the Detroit Red Wings. After leaving the Wings in 1991, Barr spent a couple of seasons with the New Jersey Devils and then one more with the Dallas Stars putting the wraps on a 13-year NHL career. Since leaving the ice, Barr has been a constant behind the benches of Orlando, Houston and Guelph in the minors and more recently in the NHL with Colorado, Minnesota, New Jersey, Buffalo, Florida and San Jose where he has spent the past three seasons.

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust, washed out bloodstains, inner pilling and a couple of handfuls of team-sewn repairs. The 1987-88 season saw the Red Wings trek to the Conference Finals for a second consecutive season only to be foiled in their quest for Lord Stanley’s Cup by the Edmonton Oilers dynasty yet again. Barr scored 40 points in 57 regular season games and added another 12 points in 16 playoff contests while wearing this sweater on home ice at the Joe. A well-worn vintage offering from an exciting era in Hockeytown.
