1987-88 Curt Giles Minnesota North Stars Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match
Lot #40

This road green air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Curt Giles during the 1987-88 NHL season. The Minnesota North Stars selected Giles in the 4th round of the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. After playing his college hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Giles made his NHL debut in 1979-80 with the North Stars. Giles spent 12 of his 14 NHL seasons wearing the North Stars green and gold while also representing the New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues. Giles helped Minnesota to a pair of Stanley Cup Finals appearances, coming a decade apart in 1981 and 1991. Giles wore the Captain’s “C” for several seasons beginning in the late 1980’s through the 1991 Stanley Cup Finals, his last game with Minnesota. Curt also suited up for the Canadian National Team and then won a Silver Medal in the 1992 Olympics.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. The game wear on this sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and a handful of team-sewn repairs. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Giles wearing this exact jersey during the 1987-88 season. Terrific photo matched jersey, complete with the coveted Captain’s “C” that was being worn during Craig Hartsburg’s absence in 1987-88 due to injury.
