1987-88 Craig Janney Bruins Game Worn Jersey - Rookie
Lot #169

This road black air-knit gamer was worn by Craig Janney during his rookie NHL season of 1987-88. After spending most of the 1987-88 campaign with the US National Team, this Boston College grad then represented Team USA in the 1988 Olympics. When the Olympics were complete, the Bruins called up Janney and he partook in 15 regular season games and 23 more in the playoff drive that took the Bruins all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals.

So impressed were the Bruins with the youngster that they teamed him on a line with superstar Cam Neely to form the Bruins # 1 line in his rookie season. Janney would spend 5 seasons with Boston before moving to St. Louis in a deadline deal that brought Adam Oates to Beantown in 1992. His 3+ years in St. Louis are legendary as he teamed with Brett Hull and dished out assists at an all-time rate as Hull perfected his goal scoring prowess. When all was said and done, this gifted playmaker doled out 563 assists and 751 points in 760 games played.

Based on the terrific game wear, we would speculate that this remarkable rookie jersey was likely worn thru both the regular season and Stanley Cup Finals playoff drive. There are numerous stick marks, board burns, fine inner pilling and half a dozen team-sewn repairs. A significant offering of one of the top assist men the sport has known.
