Description
1987-88 Bruce Cassidy Chicago Blackhawks Game Worn Jersey
Lot #69

This home white knit gamer by CCM and Gunzo’s was worn by Bruce Cassidy during the 1987-88 NHL season. The Chicago Blackhawks selected Cassidy in the 1st round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. This Ottawa native played juniors with the hometown 67’s before embarking on his professional career. Cassidy made his NHL debut in 1983-84 with the Blackhawks where he would spend the entirety of his 6-year NHL career. Cassidy also played with the Canadian National Team in 1986-87, spent a few years in Europe and also played in the AHL and IHL where he played three years with Saginaw and four more years with Indianapolis. Following his playing days, Cassidy joined the coaching ranks where he has spent the past 20+ years. Bruce is currently the Head Coach of the Boston Bruins, having led them to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2018-19.

The game wear on this sweater is on the lighter side and consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer and inner pilling. Despite playing with the Hawks over the course of six seasons, Bruce totaled only 36 NHL games played. This is in fact the first example of one of Cassidy’s sweaters that we’ve had the pleasure to bring to auction and would be a welcomed addition to any Blackhawks completist.
