1986 Vasily Pervukhin European World Championships Gold Medal
Lot #624

This 1986 European National Championships gold medal was won by Vasily Pervukhin while playing for the Soviet Union in the 1986 World Ice Hockey Championships. Pervukhin was a Soviet Union  defenseman who began playing for the National Team in 1976-77 at the World Championships. He joined the Russian League in 1978-79 with Moscow Dynamo and played there for 15 different seasons. Mostly known for his International contribution, Pervukhin played in the World Championships on 9 different occasions, all 3 Canada Cups in the 1980’s and the 1980 and 1984 Olympics. He finished his International career with a medal in every World Championships in which he played, including 6 golds; a gold medal and a silver medal in 2 Olympics; and the gold medal in the 1981 Canada Cup.

This gold medal was won by Vasily and his teammates in the 1986 World Ice Hockey Championships. The Soviet Union won the World Championship as well as the European Championship that tournament.  While the World Championship included Canada and the US, the European Championship only counted the 6 European countries. This medal is quite large, 2 ¾ inches round and is quite heavy. A beautiful and rare medal from the former Soviet Union.
