1986-87 Terry Carkner New York Rangers Pre-season Game Worn Jersey - Rookie
Lot #121

This road blue heavy mesh gamer by CCM and Cosby was worn by Terry Carkner during the 1986-87 NHL pre-season, his rookie year. Carkner enjoyed a 13-year NHL career that began in New York in 1986-87 following his selection by the Rangers in the 1st round in 1984. Following a season in Quebec, Terry joined the Flyers where he roamed the blueline for 5 seasons. Next it was onto Detroit and then Florida where he wrapped up his career. This steady defenseman played in 858 games and racked up 1588 PIMS. For his first 8 seasons, Terry tabbed triple digit PIM totals including a 200+ PIM year in Philadelphia.

Carkner spent 52 games compiling 15 points and 118 PIMS as a rookie on Broadway. Offered here is his road sweater from that rookie season. Terry donned this well worn gamer during the 1986 pre-season upon arriving to the Rangers. The nameplate easily dates this as Carkner’s first NHL jersey. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fight abuse as evidenced by the reinforced fight strap, fine inner pilling and a couple of handfuls of team-sewn repairs including a massive sewn job that encircles the ‘K’ in Rangers and spans an incredible 17 inches in length! Think this 19-year old rookie was trying to impress his teammates and coaches that pre-season!?!
