Description
1986-87 Shawn Burr Detroit Red Wings Game Worn Jersey
Lot #148

This home white knit gamer by CCM and Eastside was worn by Shawn Burr during the 1986-87 NHL season. The Detroit Red Wings selected Burr with the 7th overall pick in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. Burr began his NHL career with Detroit in 1984-85 and spent 11 years in the Motor City. He later played for Tampa Bay and San Jose before retiring after a 16-year NHL career. In 878 games this feisty winger scored 440 points and added 1069 PIMS, thanks to 5 years of eclipsing triple-digit totals.

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, stitch popping, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust, material pulls, fine inner pilling and a half dozen team-sewn repairs. A beautiful well-worn example from a season that saw the Red Wings trek to the Conference Finals only to fall shy of the Stanley Cup Finals thanks to the Edmonton Oilers Dynasty.
