1986-87 Mike Allison Toronto Maple Leafs Game Worn Jersey – “Heart and Stroke” – “King Clancy” - Photo Match - Video Match
Lot #44

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Mike Allsion during the 1986-87 NHL season. The New York Rangers selected Allsion in the 2nd round of the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. This winger made his NHL debut in 1980-81 with the Rangers where he played for 6 seasons. Allsion joined the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1986-87 where he spent parts of two seasons before finishing up his NHL career with the Los Angeles Kings. All told, Allison played in 499 games over the course of his 10-year NHL career.

Sewn to the right shoulder of this gamer is the Heart and Stroke patch. Sewn to the left shoulder is the King Clancy patch. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, heavy inner pilling and no less than a dozen team-sewn repairs. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Allison wearing this exact jersey during the 1986-87 season. Also shown above are video highlights of Allison wearing this exact jersey after scoring the overtime winner in Game 4 of the Norris Division Finals against the Detroit Red Wings, putting the Leafs ahead 3-1 in the series. A reinforced fight strap is sewn to the inner verso just beneath the back player number. The nameplate and both patches are completely original to the jersey. The Heart and Stroke and King Clancy patch combination was worn by the Leafs during the second half of the 1986-87 season and has proven to be a tough get for collectors through the years. A terrific well-worn two-patch photo and video matched example donned by Allison during his first year in a Leafs uniform.
