1986-87 Michel Goulet Quebec Nordiques Game Worn Jersey - "Rendezvous 87" - Photo Match
Lot #244
This road blue knit gamer by CCM was worn by Michel Goulet during the 1986-87 NHL season. Goulet was Quebec’s 1st round selection in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. He was part of the NHL expansion, beginning his NHL career in 1979-80 following the collapse of the WHA ,where his career began with the Birmingham Bulls. Goulet was among the finest left wings of his generation, and in NHL history for that matter. He netted a spectacular 548 goals and 1152 points during a 15-year NHL career. Michel’s goal totals from the period of 1981-82 thru 1987-88 is an impressive read, 42, 57, 56, 55, 53, 49 and 48 respectively. He was 5-times a 1st or 2nd team NHL All Star and also played in 5 NHL All Star games. Michel represented Team Canada during both the 1984 and 1987 Canada Cup’s while representing Team NHL during Rendezvous ’87 against the Russians. Michel’s career ended prematurely as he suffered a vicious head injury during the 1993-94 season while a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Affixed to the right shoulder of this gamer is the ever desirable Rendezvous ’87 patch. Sewn into the collar is the born on date that reads 86-04. The game wear on this jersey is tremendous and consists of many stick and slash marks, loads of board burns and board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and approximately a dozen team-sewn repairs. Despite the fragile nature of the heat pressed Fleur-de-lis and numbers, this example has withstood the test of time better than many of its contemporaries, while exhibiting only moderate loss. Shown above are a couple of beautiful photo matches of Goulet wearing this exact jersey during the 1986-87 season. This amazing sweater was obviously worn quite extensively during the prime of this Hall of Famer’s illustrious career, during a year that saw him net 49 goals and 96 points in just 75 games. An amazing patched and photo matched example, choice!
