1986-87 Michel Goulet Quebec Nordiques Game Worn Jersey – “Rendezvous ‘87” - 1st Team NHL All Star - Photo Match
Lot #46

This road blue knit gamer by CCM was worn by Michel Goulet during the 1986-87 NHL season. The Quebec Nordiques selected Goulet in the 1st round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. Michel was part of NHL expansion, beginning his NHL career in 1979-80 following the collapse of the WHA, where his playing career had begun with the Birmingham Bulls. Goulet was among the finest Left Wingers of his generation, and in NHL history for that matter. He netted a spectacular 548 goals and 1152 points during a 15-year NHL career. Michel’s goal totals from the period of 1981-82 thru 1987-88 is an impressive read, 42, 57, 56, 55, 53, 49 and 48 respectively. He was a five-time 1st or 2nd Team NHL All Star who played in 5 NHL All Star Games. Goulet represented Team Canada during both the 1984 and 1987 Canada Cup’s while representing Team NHL during Rendezvous ’87 against the Russians. Michel’s career ended prematurely as he suffered a vicious head injury during the 1993-94 season while a member of the Chicago Blackhawks, where he played for parts of five years after leaving the Nordiques.

Proudly affixed to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. Sewn to the right shoulder is the Rendezvous ’87 patch. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, loads of un-repaired burn holes, a well-salted fight strap, inner pilling and a handful of team-sewn repairs. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Goulet wearing this exact jersey during the 1986-87 season. Some peeling and cracking is evident and are depicted in the photos above. In 75 games played while wearing this jersey during road games in 1986-87, Goulet lit the lamp 49 times and added 47 assists for 96 points, earning 1st Team NHL All Star honors in the process. Goulet was also chosen to represent Team NHL against the Soviet Union during Rendezvous ‘87. A well-worn patched and photo matched offering complete with letter of honor that was donned by Goulet during a season that saw him win 1st Team NHL All Star honors.
