This road orange mesh gamer by CCM was worn by Jeff Chychrun during the 1986-87 NHL season, his rookie year. The Philadelphia Flyers selected Chychrun in the 2nd round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. Jeff would spend parts of 5 seasons with the Flyers where he played the role of enforcer spanning 1986-87 thru 1990-91. Jeff next suited up briefly for the LA Kings before joining the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 1991-92 season as they won their 2nd straight Stanley Cup. After just a lone game in 1992-93 with the Pens, Jeff again joined the LA Kings. His final NHL season was with the Edmonton Oilers in 1993-94. In a career that spanned just 262 games played, Chychrun compiled a most impressive 742 PIMS! His single season best totals came with the Flyers in 1988-89 and 1989-90 when he racked up 245 PIMS and 248 PIMS respectively.
The game wear on this rookie sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling and a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust. As Chychrun played merely 1-game during his rookie season of 1986-87, we surmise that he may have also worn this sweater during the following pre and or regular season as a sophomore based on the game use. A wonderful enforcer’s jersey to add to the collection.
