Description
1986-87 Gerard Gallant Detroit Red Wings Game Worn Jersey
Lot #110

This road red knit gamer by CCM and Eastside was worn by Gerard Gallant during the 1986-87 NHL season. The Detroit Red Wings selected Gallant in the 6th round of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. This winger began his NHL career with the Wings in 1984-85. He played in 11 seasons, the first 9 of them in the Motor City. Gallant was an adept goal scorer who possessed a fiery disposition. In a span of 4 seasons during the late 1980’s he ran off goals totals of 38, 34, 39 and 36. In those same 4 years he rang up PIMS totals of 216, 242, 230 and 254! Gallant scored 480 points in 615 career games and he registered 1674 PIMS! Nary a boxscore existed without Gerard making his presence felt during his prime.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, numerous un-repaired burn holes, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust and inner pilling. Gallant netted 38 goals and added 34 helpers for 72 points to go along with 216 PIMS in 80 regular season games. He then added 14 playoff points and 43 PIMS in 16 post-season contests as the Wings squared off with the Oilers in the Conference Finals, falling one round shy of the Stanley Cup Finals to the Oilers dynasty. A well-worn offering from Gallant’s prime, complete with the letter of honor and hailing from an exciting time in Hockeytown.
