1986-87 Dave Semenko Edmonton Oilers Game Worn Jersey Last Oilers Jersey Team Letter
Lot #14
This home white mesh gamer by Nike was worn by Dave Semenko during the 1986-87 NHL season. The Minnesota North Stars and Houston Aeros each selected Semenko in the 2nd round of their respective Entry Drafts. Dave chose to begin his career in the WHA and did so with the Edmonton Oilers after they obtained his rights from Houston. Semenko’s legend began with the Oilers where he played for parts of 10 seasons, two in the WHA and 8 in the NHL. During that time Semenko provided muscle and leadership while serving as Wayne Gretzky’s on-ice bodyguard, a badge of honor he was proud to wear. Semenko trekked to 3 consecutive Stanley Cup Finals between 1983-85 and walked away with 2 Championship Rings. He was dealt to the Hartford Whalers early on in the 1986-87 season and then ended his career the following year in Toronto. Known as one of the toughest customers around, Semenko took on all comers and was a true NHL & WHA heavyweight enforcer. Sadly, the hockey world mourned upon learning of the passing of Semenko in the summer of 2017 at just 59 years of age.

The fight strap on this jersey has been customized for Semenko by the team. The game wear on this size XXL sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops and inner pilling. Also worthy of mention is a nameplate reattachment. This wonderful example originates from The Peter Pocklington Collection and was this beloved enforcer’s last Edmonton Oilers game worn jersey. This jersey will be accompanied by an Oilers team letter.
