Description
1986-87 Craig MacTavish Edmonton Oilers Stanley Cup Finals Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match - Video Match - Team Letter
Lot #354

This home white heavy mesh gamer by Nike was worn by Craig MacTavish during the 1986-87 Stanley Cup winning season. MacTavish began his NHL career with the Boston Bruins in 1979-80. He spent 5 years in Beantown before becoming a member of the Edmonton Oilers in 1985. Craig spent the next 9 seasons in Alberta where he captured 3 Stanley Cups. A trade at the deadline in 1994 sent MacTavish to the New York Rangers where he joined a number of his former Edmonton teammates. A few months later and Craig was parading down Broadway with the Stanley Cup in tow alongside Messier and the boys. Craig wrapped up his 1093 game NHL career with stops in Philadelphia and St. Louis. MacTavish was one of the better defensive forwards of his generation who excelled at killing penalties and shutting down the opposition. With a number of 20-goal seasons to his credit, Craig notched 213-goals and nearly 500-points in his career. He played in nearly 200 playoff contests and earned a spot on the 1996 NHL All Star Team.

This spectacular sweater was worn by MacTavish during the 1986-87 regular season and all the way through the Stanley Cup playoffs. This was indeed the jersey that MacTavish was wearing as the Oilers hoisted their 3rd Stanley Cup on home ice at the Northlands Coliseum. The game wear on this sweater is tremendous consisting of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and no less than 30 team-sewn repairs! Shown above are some beautiful photo matches of MacTavish wearing this exact jersey during the 1987 Stanley Cup Finals. Also shown above are video highlights of MacTavish wearing this exact jersey during the 1987 Stanley Cup Finals. This important gamer was worn as the Oilers celebrated their 3rd Stanley Cup title on their way to dynasty status as one of the NHL’s all-time greatest teams. Historic! This jersey will be accompanied by an Oilers team letter.
