Following the 1989-90 season, the Canadiens saw fit to deal Chelios to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Denis Savard. Chelios next led the Blackhawks into battle for 9 seasons, winning a pair of Norris Trophies and making one more trip to the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Detroit Red Wings acquired Chelios from Chicago at the trade deadline in 1999. During that time he scored 948 points and racked up 2891 PIMS. His playoff career spanned 266 games where he added another 144 points and 423 PIMS. Chelios was a 3-time Norris Trophy winner as the NHL’s best defenseman. He was 5-times a 1st Team NHL All Star and twice more a 2nd Team NHL All Star. Considered one of hockey’s all-time great leaders, Chelios was inducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame as a first ballot inductee with the class of 2013.

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, heavy inner pilling and by our count 65 team-sewn repairs! Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Chelios wearing this exact jersey during the 1986-87 season. Chelios played in 71 games for Les Habiatants in 1986-87, scoring 11 goals and adding 33 assists for 44 points to go along with 124 PIMS, the first triple digit PIMS season of his career while wearing this jersey on home ice.
