Description
1985-86 University of Minnesota Game Worn Jersey – Player #23 – Frozen Four Season – Woog’s 1st Season as Head Coach
Lot #316

This home white mesh gamer by Athletic Sewing and J. Thomas Athletic Co. was worn by player #23 during the 1985-86 WCHA season. The Golden Gophers ushered in a new era in 1985-86 as the legendary Doug Woog, a U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer, took over Minnesota’s Head Coaching duties. The Golden Gophers went 35-13 during the regular season before making a run to the Frozen Four in Woog’s first season behind the bench. It would be the first of four consecutive years that Minnesota went to the Frozen Four!

Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the manufacturer’s tagging. The game wear on this size XL sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and a team-sewn repair. The nameplate has been removed from the upper verso and lost to history. A terrific example hailing from legendary Head Coach Doug Woog’s first season behind the bench as he guided the Golden Gophers on a run to their first of four consecutive seasons to the Frozen Four!
