1985-86 Steve Richmond Detroit Red Wings Game Worn Jersey 60-Year Anniversary - Photo Match
Lot #113

This home white knit gamer by CCM and Eastside was worn by Steve Richmond during the 1985-86 NHL season. After graduating from the University of Michigan, this Chicago native began his NHL career with the Rangers in 1983-84. After parts of 3 years in New York, Richmond joined the Red Wings in 1985-86 where he played a partial season. He next suited up for the New Jersey Devils in 1986-87 and finished his NHL career in 1988-89 with the LA Kings. In 159 career NHL games, this enforcer amassed 514 PIMS!

Embroidered to the left shoulder of this gamer is the Detroit Red Wings 60-year anniversary patch. Sewn into the collar is the born on date “85-10”. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, sweat stains, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust, pulls and areas of heavy pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Richmond wearing this exact jersey during the 1985-86 season. Richmond spent 82 minutes in the sin bin in just 29 games in a Red Wings uniform after being acquired from New York a day after Christmas, 1985. A terrific well-worn anniversary patched photo matched example that should also peak the interest of the fight collectors.
