1985-86 Mark Hunter St. Louis Blues Game Worn Jersey - Career Best 44 Goal & 74 Point Season
Lot #69

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Mark Hunter during the 1985-86 NHL season. The Montreal Canadiens selected Hunter with the 7th overall pick in the 1st round of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. Mark is the brother of Dale and Dave all of whom wreaked havoc on the NHL during the decade of the 1980’s. Mark made his NHL debut with the Canadiens in 1981-82 and spent his first four seasons with Les Habitants before joining the St. Louis Blues for a three-year stint beginning in 1985-86. Hunter joined the Calgary Flames in 1988-89 and won a Stanley Cup with them later that spring. After nearly three years in Calgary, this winger played out his career with stops in Hartford and Washington. In 628 games played, Hunter amassed 1428 PIMS. He also put forth a career best 44-goal season to lead the Blues in 1985-86 as he helped lead the club to the cusp of the Stanley Cup Finals, thanks in part to the Monday Night Miracle.

The game wear on this sweater is tremendous and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, trauma, general filth, stitch pops, loads of exterior pilling, inner pilling, fight abuse, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust and more than a dozen team-sewn repairs. Some of the repair work is backed by what appears to be Rawlings mesh, likely leftover from the Blues jerseys used during the prior season. Trauma also exists along with some peeling of the sleeve numbers while the player name, team lettering and Blue Note are in beautiful condition. Hunter led the Blues in Goals with 44 while putting 74 points, both career best totals to go along with 171 PIMS! In 19 playoff games, Hunter lit the lamp 7 times and tallied 14 points to go along with 48 PIMS as St. Louis fell a game shy of the Stanley Cup Finals after their thrilling Monday Night Miracle on home ice in game 6 of the Conference Finals. Worn during a very meaningful season to the Blues fans and a terrific sweater that exhibits battle scars galore.
