Description
1985-86 Joe Mullen Flames Game Worn Jersey
Lot #42

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Joe Mullen during the 1985-86 NHL season. Mullen, who grew up in New York’s tough Hell’s Kitchen, was the first U.S. born player to score 500 NHL goals. He is a member of the 1000-point club as well as the Hockey Hall of Fame. Mullen is a member of the 50-goal club and had numerous seasons that saw him net 40 or more during his storied career. Joe owns a Lester Patrick trophy for outstanding service to hockey in the United States, (2) Lady Byng trophies for the combination of sportsmanship and high ability as well as (3) Stanley Cups championships, including 2 with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Mullen represented Team USA in 3 different Canada Cup games. There is little doubt that Mullen’s 16 playoff goals played a major part in the 1989 Stanley Cup playoffs as he captured his first Cup as a member of the Calgary Flames.

Stitched to the collar of this gamer is the born on tag of 85-07, indicating its production in July of 1985. This sweater is loaded with numerous stick and slash marks throughout the body and sleeves. In addition there are board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired holes and inner pilling. On the back player number, in black sharpie, sits an autograph in Joe’s own hand. This is a short-lived knit style jersey that was worn by the Flames for only two seasons. Worn circa the height of Mullen’s Hall of Fame career, this vintage example is sure to please.
