This road red knit gamer by CCM was worn by Al Macinnis during the 1985-86 NHL season. The Calgary Flames selected Macinnis in the 1st round of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. Macinnis went onto a distinguished Hall of Fame career that spanned 23 seasons and 1416 games. He spent the first 13 seasons of his career with the Calgary Flames and completed his career with 10 seasons as a member of the St. Louis Blues. Al lit the lamp a resounding 340 times, thanks in large part to his booming slap shot that was often clocked at 100MPH. He added an impressive 934 assists giving him a total of 1274 career points, good for 3rd on the all-time scoring list for defenseman. Macinnis captured the 1999 Norris Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman and the 1989 Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP as he led his Calgary Flames to the first Stanley Cup title in team history. Al was 7-times a 1st or 2nd team NHL All Star and played in 13 NHL All Star games en route to his Hall of Fame induction in 2007.
The 1985-86 season was a special one for Flames fans as it marked the first time in franchise history that they played in the Stanley Cup Finals. Offered here is Al’s road jersey from that memorable season.
Sewn into the collar of this jersey is the born on date “85 – 07”. The game wear on this vintage offering is solid and consists of numerous stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, pulls, gobs upon gobs of inner pilling and some team-sewn repairs, including one in the crest area and another a 3 and a half inch long repair job above the right sleeve number and extending into the shoulder. This well-worn vintage example easily ranks as one of the finest Macinnis gamers in the entire hobby and would proudly represent in any Hall of Fame collection, choice!
